The first registrations were started in September 2006, and the concept behind this domain extension is that all websites that use it must comply with special regulations. In other words, all dot MOBI websites must be developed to be viewed faultlessly by mobile devices in agreement with the so-called “MWI Best Practices for mobile content” established by the W3C Mobile Web Initiative (MWI) in cooperation with the .MOBI Registry organization. These incorporate how a page is being navigated, the way it is being displayed (form and size), and so on.
